It’s an exciting time for H•E Homes as we approach the end of 2019 and the dawn of a New Year – and a new decade!

Like we’re also doing at Cornerstone on Central we’re committed to creating more than just new homes in the New Year with another incredible development: Sheldon on 16th.

It’s going to be a great 2020 with our first move-ins planned for this new exciting community. Sheldon on 16th is a collection of homesites along both Sheldon Street and Roosevelt Avenue, just north of the eastern end of the burgeoning and ever-growing 16th Street corridor.

Sheldon on 16th offers the perfect mix between a close-knit neighborhood and plenty of exciting nearby amenities. You won’t be too far removed from thriving social scenes, but you’ll also be tucked away just enough to not be overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of city life. Destinations like Festiva, West Fork Whiskey, Cannon Ball Brewing, the Monon Trail, the popular new Bottleworks District and more are just a short 5- to 10-minute walk away.

North of the heart of downtown Indianapolis, the 16th Street corridor has been a hotbed of construction and development in recent years. The community represents an exciting location to plant roots, whether you’re looking to build your first home or forever home.

In addition to the community we’re creating at Sheldon on 16th, the awesome surrounding amenities include:

Award-winning and nationally ranked schools
Families with children can be comfortable knowing they’ll receive a high-quality education, added to the community by nearby Herron High School, The Oaks Academy, Center for Inquiry School 27, Arsenal Technical High School and more.

Outdoor adventures
If you act now and take advantage of our H•E Homes six-month move-in construction guarantee, you’ll have plenty of time to take advantage of the collection of all of the summer park events and the draw of nearby Kennedy King, Herron-Morton and Fall Creek Place neighborhoods. In addition to hosting area youth and adult recreational leagues, Frank & Judy O’Bannon Soccer Park also serves as a trailhead point for the city’s popular ad expansive Monon Trail.

Entertainment and Artistic opportunities
In addition to the ever-growing collection of public art displays that can be found throughout the city, Sheldon on 16th is convenient and close to both The Harrison Center — which infuses art and culture into the community through exhibits, open studio gallery nights, concerts and the popular “PreEnact Indy” every summer just one block from your brand-new home — and Footlite Musicals. The volunteer theater brings the best of Broadway to the Circle City with about five productions per year in addition to hosting other fine arts and community events. The Phoenix Theatre and cultural center is another nearby arts and entertainment hub, hosting galleries to showcase local artists, a popular “Trail Talks” town hall series and stage productions that aim to challenge and inspire audiences.

If you head southwest down Massachusetts Avenue, you’ll discover a collection of venues for all genres of fun live entertainment. You can see everything from improv comedy at CSz Indianapolis to independent local shows at IndyFringe and plays and musicals at the Indiana Performing Arts Centre and The District Theater. The neighborhood includes venues highlighting all levels of performers, from the stars of tomorrow at the Young Actors Theatre to superstar recording artists, Broadway productions and more at the Old National Centre.

A fun chance to blend local art with the great outdoors, 16th Street is the nearby border of the Talbot Street Art Fair every summer. The oldest art fair in Central Indiana dating back to 1956, it’s recognized as one of the top art shows in the United States. More than 60,000 people attend each year to view and purchase artwork from more than 250 artists.

Food, drink and nightlife
Heading west down the 16th Street corridor, you’ll find no shortage of award-winning restaurants, new bars and breweries and other trendy hotspots perfect for grabbing a bite, a pint and hosting your next date night or get-together:
• Festiva Mexican restaurant
• The Tinker House events space, in addition to hosting a Hotel Tango distillery, is also home to Provider Coffee & Long Drinks
• Cannon Ball Brewing Company and West Fork Whiskey at the intersection with 17th Street
• Keep heading down 16th Street and you’ll discover additional area staples: Tinker Street restaurant and Foundry Provisions
• Indy’s Mass Ave. arts and cultural district and the forthcoming Bottleworks District are just on the other side of the I-70 and I-65 connectors. The area is one of downtown’s most popular, full of bars and restaurants as well as a collection of art galleries, theaters and eclectic shopping boutiques.

We’ve always specialized in downtown living at H•E Homes. However, as every year brings more new and exciting development into the surrounding community, we love downtown living more and more each and every day. We know you will, too.

We can’t wait to make 2020 your best and most exciting year yet in a brand-new home and exciting new neighborhood. If you’re ready to start a new adventure in the New Year, we think Sheldon on 16th would be the perfect place to do it. We can customize any of our “Quick Start” home designs to create a home for your family that’s uniquely your own on any of our ready-to-build Sheldon on 16th homesites.
